Chinese Houses Collinsia heterophylla. Pagoda shaped inflorescences of purple and white flowers top compact, easy-going, charming plants. Chinese Houses Collinsia are also (quite sweetly) known as Blue-Eyed Marys. They are native to western North America, and thrive in cool weather, flowering in late spring to early summer. Once the high heat of summer arrives, they reduce blooming considerably. This plant works well in containers, but provide afternoon shade. It is tolerant of dry soil, and can be used in xeriscaping schemes. Deadhead frequently.
