Dwarf Yellow Prairie Coneflower Seeds | OSC Seeds
Approx. 500 seeds/pkt (1,800 seeds/gram)
This pretty native North American plant is found throughout the southern plains areas in central Canada. Sturdy, drought tolerant colourful plants up to 1 m tall bloom from mid summer through to early fall. Thrives in hot, humid conditions and is best in medium to drier soils. Flowers are up to 7.5 cm across with bright yellow reflexed petals and a pronounced dark brown tubular centre. Flowers are a butterfly favourite and the seed produced by this plant is preferred by many birds and small mammals. Perennial hardy to Zone 4. For many native and perennial plants, late fall is the best time to sow seed directly outside. Why you ask? Simply put, many of these plants produce seed that is viable but dormant. This means allowing seeds to naturally stratify over winter will “wake up” the dormant seed for best results.
