This specie is best grown in alkaline soils that are well drained but at the same time hold a good deal of moisture. The reason for this is that wilted mignonette plants don’t re-hydrate well which in turn adversely affects their flowering performance. Direct sowing into the garden or containers in a sunny site is recommended as this variety resents transplanting. The essential oil in this heirloom plant has been used in perfumes.
